Liverbirds - Session Zero

For Session Zero we got together and rolled through the book, Party Backstory Generator by Justin Sirois. It is a series of tables that creates connections between one or more characters. I didn't use the book exactly as presented, but pretty close. Players rolled, with high pairings then rolling on the current table. I did make sure there was a roughly even balance to the number of connections for each character. It worked out.

Below are the connections made, which should come out as we play.

Alliances - Aletta and Tahd together inherited a small tavern. They named it The Liverbird, and it has become the starting base of operations. It's also where characters are working when their players miss a session!

Conflict - Suzie and Tahd were gambling one night at another tavern and lost to a person they suspected as cheating. Tahd followed that person when the left, beat them up, and took back all the money. Suzie disagreed with the violence. Now that person and their friends are out to get these two (and possibly, by extension, The Liverbirds).

A River Runs, Joins, and Divides - Daar Na Tosh and Verilyn are from opposite sides of the river that runs through the city, and prefers it for specific reasons, They each own modest flats on either side of the river.

Education - Aletta, Suzie, and Verilyn all took unarmed training at the Bloodmoon School (a fighting school in the city). Suzie was best at it. Each character was granted the Improved Grappling combat manuever.

Walls Both Big and Small - A squat stone wall circles a small graveyard in the lower part of the west side of the city. Recently, Kaz and Suzie buried a good friend there. They used their own money to create a proper headstone, as he had no family to pay for it. Nearby, they inherited his small home where they both now live.

Nearby Locations - Daar Na Tosh and Tahd sometimes travel via train to the nearby town of Drygulch to "let off steam". There are many unsavory people, bandits, and road agents that go there. Tahd is smuggling in liquor for his bar to avoid taxes.

Fortune or Misfortune - Aletta and Verilyn found a magic wand. 

Roads - Kaz has history with a bandit leader known to prey on the west road leading to the town of Longdale.

Weird Fun - Kaz and Suzie had their fortunes read. Kaz's future was bright, Suzie's, not so much. 

Odd Locations - I had each player roll on this table; it provided a shop or point of interest in the area that they specifically know about. 

Aletta - A large crack in the ground zig zags north to south just east of the city. Locals are afraid of what is down there.

Daar Na Tosh - Know a person who sells simple games and wooden sculptures.

Kaz - Knows of a local Funiture maker.

Suzie - Knows of an entrance to an underground labyrinth beneath the city. 

Tahd - Knows of a local inventor. 

Verilyn - Knows of a local cartographer.
