Redwick: A Tranquil Haven of the Ottrali

Nestled along the winding riverbanks of the Birberry Run, Redwick emerges as a charming village (called a holt), home to about 100 otterfolk who have crafted a community that harmonizes seamlessly with the waterways that define their lives.

Domes of Harmony: The heart of Redwick is comprised of interconnected groups of sturdy, baked-clay domes, each one meticulously crafted by the skilled artisans. These domes, known for their smooth curves and earthy tones, resemble oversized river stones. The baked clay provides both durability and insulation, ensuring the otterfolk remain comfortable in their aquatic surroundings.

Holts along the Waters: The otterfolk, being creatures of the water, strategically build their holts along riverbanks and lakeshores. Each holt features  clusters of domes arranged in a circular or semi-circular pattern. The otterfolk believe that the circular design fosters a sense of unity and connectivity among the community.

Community Gathering Space: At the heart of each holt lies a communal gathering space, often adorned with vibrant aquatic plants and stones. Here, the otterfolk come together for storytelling, celebrations, and communal meals. Low, circular benches made of woven river reeds provide comfortable seating for gatherings, fostering a sense of togetherness.

Canoes and River Pathways: Canoes, intricately crafted from riverwood and adorned with carved symbols, are a common sight along the water's edge. Otterfolk use these canoes for transportation and fishing, skillfully navigating the waterways that intertwine their village. River pathways connect the holts, allowing the otterfolk to easily travel between different sections of Redwick.

Aquatic Gardens: To enhance the beauty of their village, the otterfolk cultivate aquatic gardens. Water lilies, reeds, and other water-loving plants are carefully tended, creating a colorful tapestry that mirrors the natural splendor of their surroundings. These gardens also attract a variety of aquatic creatures, fostering a harmonious relationship between the otterfolk and the local ecosystem.

Clamshell Market Stalls: Otterfolk traders set up clamshell market stalls along the riverbanks, where they showcase handmade crafts, polished stones, wood carvings, and other treasures sourced from the waters. The market is a lively hub of activity, with otterfolk engaging in friendly barter and trade.

Underwater Homes: While the domes above ground are the primary residences, the otterfolk also have small, semi-submerged homes with entrances hidden beneath the water's surface. These underwater chambers provide a retreat for meditation and solitude, allowing the otterfolk to connect with the tranquil depths of their aquatic home.

Ceremonial Pools: In the center of Redwick, a series of interconnected ceremonial pools serves as a spiritual focal point. The otterfolk use these pools for rituals, celebrations, and communal cleansing. The pools are adorned with luminescent stones that cast a gentle glow during evening gatherings.

Redwick stands as a testament to the otterfolk's deep connection with water, weaving together nature and community into a picturesque fantasy village where the rhythm of the river guides the ebb and flow of daily life.
