The Mere

The Mere is a two-hundred-mile-long stretch of woody wetland and salt marsh, forty-miles wide at its thickest part, and covering nearly 400,000 acres. Numerous rivers and streams flow down from the western hills, and the largest river, The Brineshire provides the primary freshwater outlet for the entire Duchy of Landon. Countless species of flora and fauna find home here, along with several large tribes of reptilians. Long before humans settled the region and the mere grew to its present size, others made their homes here, and scattered ruins of ancient structures rise from the murk.
